Causes Of Injuries In Beauty And Wellness Spas

Celina Nichols

No one expects to get injured at a spa, but sometimes injuries occur due to the negligence of these establishments. Below are some of the causes of such injuries.

Insufficient Training

Some of the therapeutic procedures that take place in spas are only safe if a competent person administers them. That is why all types of beauticians should get appropriate training and licensing. Imagine getting a facial treatment or waxing treatment from an unskilled person. You can easily end up with skin injuries. If you are injured by an untrained person, you can use the lack of training as your basis for an injury claim.

Inadequate Maintenance

Spas are expected to maintain and keep their equipment safe like other businesses that deal with physical clients. A well-trained beautician using poorly maintained equipment can still cause you injury. A curling iron can get too hot, a movable chair can break, and a hairdryer might give you an electrical shock.

Lack of Safety Testing

Many beauty products cause different reactions in people. You may find that massage oil that your friend swears by gives you nasty rashes if you try to use the oil. You may also be allergic to cosmetic products that other people find perfectly safe. For these reasons, dermatologists advise people to try skin products before using the products. For example, before a masseur covers your body with exotic oil, they should test the oil on a small patch of your skin to confirm the oil's safe to use on your skin.

Unsanitary Procedures and Equipment

Most spa treatments involve direct contact with the skin or other parts of the body. Skin wraps, facials, waxing, tanning, and pedicures, among other treatments, all involve other products come into contact with your body. This means the equipment needs to be thoroughly cleaned or sterilized so as not to spread infectious diseases. Otherwise, you can pick a nasty bag from equipment that wasn't thoroughly cleaned after being used by an infected person.

Dangerous Chemicals

Lastly, you can also get sick at the spa if they use dangerous chemicals on you. Say you get a treatment with a hair product that expired a long time ago or your facial treatment accidentally got mixed with another product that is not fit for your skin. In this case, your negligence claim will be based on dangerous products.

Consult a personal injury lawyer if you are the victim of a spa accident. The lawyer will evaluate your case, determine if it's viable, and help you process the claim.

After thinking about the wreck, I realized that since it wasn't my fault, I shouldn't be left with all of the medical expenses. I decided that I needed to look into things a little further, and I decided to file a personal injury lawsuit. My lawyer helped me to come to grips with the extent of my injuries and helped me to make things right. This blog is all about understanding personal injury lawsuits.
